Hand turned Madrone Bowl with rose design

This unique bowl has hand turned from wet Madrone wood, allowed to dry slowly and then embellished with a rose design using Inktense water color pencils. I have named this piece "Rosebowl". Madrone or Arbutus wood is a difficult but exciting wood to work with, it warps as it dries creating wonderfully organic shapes with graceful curves and natural irregularities. It regularly splits, which is a challenge! But to me these idiosyncrasies simply add to the interest and unique qualities of the piece. Madrone wood is highly prized by most woodturners. This delightful little bowl is 4.5" wide and 4" high.
